Our Story

Animood wasn't born from market research. It was born from a litter of unweaned kittens, a decision made in minutes, and a passion for animals that goes back long before the shop.

A Litter We Shouldn't Have Separated So Soon

We got Aslan far too early. She wasn't even weaned. Normally, a kitten stays with its mother and siblings for at least eight weeks, to learn to eat on its own, groom itself, and socialize. Aslan, on the other hand, barely fit in one hand.

But the situation didn't really leave a choice. The litter had to go, quickly, and without a serious adopter, she would have ended up who knows where, or nowhere at all. So we said yes, without thinking too much about the bottles of formula milk to prepare every three hours, the short nights, all the things we didn't yet know how to do. We just knew that between taking her right away and risking her ending up abandoned, there wasn't really a dilemma.

So we learned. Bottle-feeding, stimulation to help her relieve herself because a kitten of that age can't do it alone, constantly monitoring the room temperature because such a small body can't yet regulate itself. It wasn't planned, it wasn't reasonable, and it's probably one of the best decisions we've ever made.

A Passion That's Not New

Aslan didn't create this passion; she just awakened it. Cats in particular, and animals in general, have always held a special place. Not just the prettiest, not just the cuddliest or most photogenic. The ugly ones too. The awkwardly built, the strange coats, the sideways glances, the difficult characters. Just as much as the adorable furballs we see on social media.

This, in hindsight, explains the shop's name. An animal doesn't need to be perfect, cute, or standard to deserve good care. A one-eyed cat, a limping dog, a rabbit too timid to be held: they are beings who feel, who bond, who suffer or thrive depending on how they are treated, just like us. They deserve to have their lives made easier as much as possible, not just when they look cute in front of a camera.

From This Idea to the Shop

Animood is this conviction translated into everyday objects. Every product we sell is designed for a specific purpose: to make a small moment of daily life simpler, for the animal and for the person caring for it. A better bath, stress-free nail trimming, a bearable car ride, a litter box that smells less. Nothing spectacular, just details that, when put together, make a real difference in a day.

We're not looking to sell the trendiest product of the moment. We ask a simple question before adding anything to the shop: would we use it for Aslan? If the answer isn't a clear yes, the product doesn't join the shop. This isn't a marketing ploy; it's simply the rule we've set for ourselves from the beginning.

Today

Aslan is no longer that kitten who fit in one hand. She's grown, she has her habits, her favorite spots, her own bad temper too. And she remains, unknowingly, the reason why every Animood product passes through the same filter before reaching you.
